Pokemon Go Will Soon Stop Working on Older iPhone and Android Devices

Here are the devices that will be affected...

Trainers, later this year, Pokemon Go will stop being supported on some older iPhone and Android devices.

On the Pokemon Go website, Niantic, the game’s developer, said this change will happen in “mid-October” 2020.

Niantic shared a list of the devices and mobile operating systems that will no longer be supported after this update launches.

  • Android 5
  • iOS 10
  • iOS 11
  • iPhone 5s
  • iPhone 6

Once this update goes live, players using these older devices or running these older operating systems will no longer be able to play Pokemon Go unless they switch to a newer device / operating system that is still supported.

However, this doesn’t mean that affected players will lose all of their in-game progress. So long as they remember their account info, they can login to the game on a different device that is still supported and continue right where they left off.

To view a list of example Android 5 devices that will be affected by this change, head over to the Pokemon Go support website.
