Pokemon Go: All Mega Evolutions Guide
Here are all of the Pokemon that can be Mega Evolved, even if they aren't in the game just yet.
Trainers, Pokemon Go was recently updated with a major new feature: Mega Evolution. This allows you to temporarily evolve certain Pokemon beyond their final forms in order to make them stronger. (Check out our full Mega Evolution guide right here.)
The process of Mega Evolution was first introduced in the Pokemon video games back in Generation VI (Pokemon X and Y). As noted by Bulbapedia, there are 46 different Pokemon species that have the ability to Mega Evolve, and 48 different Mega Evolutions in total (Charizard and Mewtwo have two possible Mega Evolutions, bringing the total to 48).
Currently, only four Pokemon currently have the ability to Mega Evolve in Pokemon Go (Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill). That means there are 42 possible species that may or may not receive the Mega Evolution ability in Pokemon Go in the future.
If you want to prepare for the possibility of these Mega Evolutions being added to Pokemon Go, here are all of the Pokemon species that are currently compatible with Mega Evolution, according to Bulbapedia:
We want to be especially clear that there’s no guarantee any or all of these Mega Evolutions will be added to Pokemon Go in the future. However, these Pokemon may be worth holding on to just in case you may one day be able to Mega Evolve them.
