Banning Fortnite in Schools Hasn't Stopped Kids From Playing

Kids are turning to a community called Scratch to satisfy that Fortnite itch.

Fortnite is the biggest game in the world right now, and plenty of students have taken their love of the game with them to school. In response, schools have sent out warnings to parents or even banned the game entirely (it can be played on the iOS devices kids may have with them).

However, IGN reported that clever students are finding ways to play Fortnite, or at least experience something similar, in schools where the game is banned. A coding community called Scratch allows users to create their own games, and people are using the platform to create their own rudimentary versions of Fortnite that can be played for free in a computer browser.

One game, appropriately called “Fortnite,” has been viewed over 563,000 times since its launch on January 6. These games have basic graphics and gameplay, but it’s apparently enough to satisfy kids who have no other choice.

Parents, if your teens are sad they can’t play Fortnite at school, encourage them to use these kinds of programs to develop their own games to share with friends. If you’re looking for more ways kids can get into game development and coding, check out our guide.
