Open your gate so your friends can come play!
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can invite your friends to visit your island so long as you and your friends all have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
To invite friends to visit your island, you’ll need to open your gate by visiting your island’s airport. Our guide is here to show you how this works!
Before we begin, please note that you can’t use the airport’s services on the first day you play New Horizons.
Head into the airport and talk to Orville.
Select “I want visitors.”
You’ll need to choose between local and online play. If you want to invite someone to your island who is near you in the real world, you can select “Via local play” (though online play is also an option in this situation). If you want to invite friends who are in other places, select “Via online play.”
If you select “Via online play,” Orville will tell you that he needs to connect to the internet. Select “Roger!” to move on. The game will then connect to the internet.
Next, Orville will ask you who you want to invite to your island. If you select “All my friends!,” all of your Nintendo Switch friends will be able to come over. If you select “Only my Best Friends!,” only the people that you’ve set as a “Best Friend” in New Horizons will be able to visit. Finally, if you choose “Invite by Dodo Code,” Orville will give you a code that you can give to the people you want to come over. For our guide, we’ll select “All my friends!”
After you make your selection, your gate will be opened, and the people you invited / allowed to come over can do so!
