Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Find Pine Cones

These are one of the new crafting materials that are available during Fall.

Update (09/02/20): GameWith updated its article to indicate players can find pine cones for a longer period of time than what was originally listed. We’ve updated our article accordingly.

Original Story:

It’s officially Fall on islands in the Northern Hemisphere in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! With the change of seasons comes the addition of some new crafting materials that players can collect to create new recipes.

We’ve already brought you a guide related to finding acorns on your island, and now, we’re here with everything you need to know about finding pine cones!

As GameWith reported, pine cones will only drop from cedar trees, rather than hardwood trees. According to GameWith, you can collect pine cones on islands in the Northern Hemisphere from September 1 to December 11, and on islands in the Southern Hemisphere from March 1 to June 11.

To find pine cones, all you have to do is run up to cedar trees and shake them! However, in our experience, these aren’t very common objects, and you’re more likely to see tree branches, rather than pine cones, drop from these trees.

That being said, if you keep at it, you should eventually be able to collect all of the pine cones you need for your crafting projects.

Plus, here’s a tip to keep in mind as you search for pine cones: Since you’ll need to shake trees to collect these crafting materials, make sure to have your net ready before you shake each tree. If you approach a tree from the front and shake it (rather than from the side), you’ll be ready to quickly catch a wasp should one drop from the tree. That way, you won’t get stung!
