It's not as simple as doing it yourself.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can craft a variety of wreaths and door plates that you can use to decorate your own front door, as well as the walls inside of your house. But have you ever wondered if you could decorate a villager’s front door, too?
Unfortunately, if you walk up to a villager’s door and try to hang a wreath or door plate on it like you would your own door, the game won’t let you. However, you can still add some decorative flair to your villagers’ doors — you’ll just need to do a bit more work.
Once you’ve crafted the item you want on a villager’s door, talk to that villager.
If you’ve reached the point in your friendship where you can give them gifts, select “This is yours!”
Choose the item you want to give them.
For this guide, we gave a Cosmos Wreath to Flurry. Once we gave her the wreath, she said, “My door will seem more inviting now!”
The next day, the villager should have placed the wreath on their door. In the screenshot below, you can see that Flurry placed the wreath on her door.
This process should allow you to decorate all of your villager’s doors, so long as you have unlocked the ability to give them gifts. We’ll keep giving away items in our own game, and we’ll update this space if this process ever fails to work.
