A different version of Rotom will appear in each game.
Update (04/29/20): The official Pokemon website said Pokemon Shield players will encounter Heat Rotom, but we’ve found Wash Rotom in our own version of the game.
Trainers, a new Max Raid Battle event has kicked off in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield on Nintendo Switch!
From now until May 11 at 4:59 p.m. PT, Tyranitar, Togekiss, Excadrill, Whimsicott, and Dragapult will appear more frequently in Max Raid Battles in the games’ Wild Area.
Plus, during this time, Wash Rotom will appear in Max Raid Battles in Pokemon Sword, while Heat Rotom will appear in Max Raid Battles in Pokemon Shield.
If you want to take on both versions of Rotom during this event, keep in mind that if you connect your Switch to the internet, you can search for players that are inviting other trainers to join their Max Raid Battles. It’s possible you may be able to join a trainer battling the version of Rotom that isn’t available in your own game.
