A variety of powerful pocket monsters will be around to battle and capture for a limited time.
Trainers, if you like collecting Pokemon with the Gigantamax ability (raises hand), a new event in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield is for you!
From now until June 29 at 4:59 p.m. PT, a variety of Gigantamax Pokemon will be available to encounter in Max Raid Battles in the Wild Area. One of these Pokemon is Snorlax, which will be available to battle and capture in both Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.
The rest of the Pokemon in this event will be exclusive to one of the two games. That is, the Pokemon you can find in the Wild Area will depend on the game you’re playing. Here’s the breakdown.

Remember, if there’s a Pokemon you’d like to battle, but it’s only appearing in the other game, you can load the game’s Y-COMM menu and connect to the internet in order to search for Raids being hosted by players in the other game. If you’re fast, you may be able to join one of these Max Raid Battles to take on the pocket monster you’re hoping to capture.
