Students will learn about NASA's Artemis I mission.
NASA’s Artemis I mission is scheduled to launch on November 22, 2021. Ahead of this launch, NASA has partnered with Lego Education to create a free, digital STEAM learning series for students that’s inspired by the mission and designed to spark students’ interest in STEAM topics and careers.
This learning series is called Build to Launch: A STEAM Exploration Series. The 10-week series will feature “interactive episodes and open-ended prompts” that are focused on three different learning themes inspired by the Artemis I mission: Getting to Space, Testing and Transport, and Working in Space.
Throughout the series, students in grades K-12 will learn about different careers at NASA, and they’ll use skills such as problem solving and collaboration as they work through each learning module. Students and teachers will also be able to submit questions that will be answered by NASA and animated Lego Education minifigures.
In a press release, Esben Stærk, president of LEGO Education, commented on this learning series:
“We are at a pivotal moment in education, and to rethink how students learn we must provide meaningful, hands-on learning experiences. The LEGO Education and Artemis lesson series creates joyful learning moments and brings STEAM learning to life through the real-world application of space exploration – a topic that evokes curiosity and awe in students of all ages and abilities.”
Build to Launch: A STEAM Exploration Series will launch in September 2021. Teachers can visit the Lego Education website to sign up to receive more information about the program and be notified when the Teacher Resource Guide becomes available for the series.
