The console combines retro gaming with modern features.
Atari and publisher Plaion revealed the Atari 2600+, a recreation of the four-switch Atari 2600 video game console released in 1980. (While the original Atari 2600 was released in 1977, the Atari 2600+ is modeled after the four-switch version of the console released in 1980.)
The Atari 2600+ will feature backwards compatibility with game cartridges released for the original Atari 2600 and 7800 consoles, meaning you can play any classic games you may already own on this new system.
The console will also come with a “10-Games-in-1 Cartridge” featuring the following titles:
The Atari 2600+ will include a replica of the original CX40+ joystick. The console will feature an HDMI port and HDMI cable for connecting the system to modern devices, and it will be powered through an included USB-C power cable.
The Atari 2600+ will be released on November 17, 2023 for $129.99. You can now pre-order the console on Atari’s website and at select retailers.
In addition to releasing the Atari 2600+, Atari and Plaion will release a CX-30 Paddle Controller Bundle featuring the paddle controller and a “4-in-1” game cartridge for $39.99. A standalone CX-40 joystick will also be available for $24.99.
Finally, additional game cartridges, including Berzerk Enhanced Edition and Mr. Run and Jump, will be available for $29.99 each.
