The 2023 Pokemon World Championships will take place in Yokohama, Japan from August 11 – 13, 2023. As spotted by Serebii.net, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, will celebrate this event by bringing a 2023 Pokemon World Championships event to Pokemon Go.
The 2023 Pokemon World Championships event will run from August 11, 2023 at 10 a.m. local time until August 15, 2023 at 8 p.m. local time.
Once this event begins, Passimian will become available to collect in Pokemon Go.
During this event, Machop, Chinchou, Wooper, Sableye, Meditite, Spheal, Drilbur, Scraggy, Bunnelby, and Wooloo will appear more frequently than normal in the wild. Onix and Lickitung will also have the chance to appear in the wild during this event, though the Pokemon Go website indicated they’ll be rarer than the other featured Pokemon.
Two in-game bonuses will be active during this event:
Players will be able to complete Timed Research tasks during this event to receive an Elite Fast TM, an encounter with World Championships 2023 Pikachu, and other in-game items.
A variety of Pokemon will appear in Raids during this event:
Players will be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks during this event to earn encounters with World Championships 2023 Pikachu, Alolan Sandshew, Seel, Magikarp, Galarian Zigzagoon, Spheal, Passimian, and Wimpod.
Players will also be able to evolve certain Pokemon during this event to receive special battle moves. Here’s the breakdown:
Finally, once this event begins, the 2023 Worlds Jersey and 2023 Worlds Jacket avatar items will become available in Pokemon Go.
