Mark your calendars so you don't miss out.
For some time now, Pokemon Go Community Day events have fit into a pattern, with every other month featuring one of the “starters” from one of the Pokemon role-playing games (the months in-between are less predictable). Since March 2019 featured Treecko, the Grass-type starting Pokemon from Gen III of the Pokemon universe, it was easy to guess that the starring Pokemon for May would be Torchic.
Now we know this prediction was right. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. local time on May 19, players will be able to encounter more Torchic than normal while playing. And there will likely be the chance to run into Shiny Torchic, too.
Torchic is a Fire-type Pokemon, which (along with Treecko and Mudkip) was one of the three starting Pokemon players could choose from in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire on Game Boy Advance (the games launched in 2003 in North America).
Torchic has two evolutions. In Pokemon Go, players can evolve Torchic into Combusken using 25 Torchic Candy, and then evolve Combusken into Blaziken using 100 Torchic Candy. As usual, an exclusive battle move will available on May 19, but it hasn’t been revealed just yet.
During May’s Community Day event, players will earn three times the normal amount of Stardust when they capture Pokemon. Lure Modules will also last for three hours when activated during this event window, rather than the standard 30 minutes. As a reminder, players can activate a Lure Module on a PokeStop to attract wild Pokemon to the area.
Remember, players, while we may not know the Pokemon that will be featured in future Community Day events (though we’ll make an educated guess that July will feature Mudkip), we do know when the next few events will take place: June 8, July 21, and August 3.
We can’t wait!
